GOSSIP, GOSSIP and MO'
GOSSIP!
Hey! Heard any juicy LA strip club related gossip?
E-mail me ASAP before it's not hot
anymore. Stop watching those soap operas and talk shows and get your water
cooler talk right here.
I will attempt to seek a second source on all rumors but if none can be found
and the info seems legit, it will appear here anyway. Normally, I will not
give out my sources for gossip. However, if you want to be in the spotlight,
say so in your email and all dirty credit will be gladly given.
But remember why it's called gossip and rumors, and not news and facts. |
Sunset Goes Dry
December 24, 1997
Sunset Strip has been
hit with a ABC violation and will be dry into mid January. They will be closed
for "remodeling" in the mean time. The word out on the street is that there
will be even more private booths which will be even nastier than the ones
they already have. If you are looking for high mileage at a topless joint,
this might be the place to check out when they reopen. The bad news is the
location of the club and the quality of some the dancers.
Saxbeat Rates Lacy Street
December 23, 1997
The following are excerpts from Saxbeat's field report of
Lacy Street
Cabaret:
I went today. Admission: $2, w/Times ad. Drinks: $4.25. The dancer offered
me "regular" or "VIP" dances. "What's the dif?" I asked. Regular is in an
"open" three-sided booth, like you pretty much see everywhere. Anyone in
the audience can watch. It is topless, full grind, and costs $20. (Maybe
$30? I can't remember.) VIP is in a three-sided booth, but the booth is in
an area that has been partially walled off. The audience can't see you, and
there are no floaters checking on you. They are nude, full grind and cost
$40... at least according to this dancer.
Overall, my lap experience was BETTER THAN MONS; it had all the elements
of Mon's Venus, plus better
privacy. The high mileage may have been just because of the day shift, but
I'd definitely consider going back at night when the selection improves.
The only downside was weak selection, and average-looking girls. Dancer attitudes
were EXCELLENT!
Summary: A thumbs up and a Big 4+ on the Z Bone nasty scale. Spread the word...
it ain't gonna last!
BTW, I checked out Venus
Faire last Friday. They no longer have laps at all. The guy at the counter
said, simply, "Um, they didn't work out."
4 Play Opens in West LA
December 19, 1997
4 play opens for business as of December 19 from 6pm-4am. I assume that they
are only open to 4am on the weekends. They haven't advertised yet and the
official grand opening night is Friday, December 26. Boy, what a day to open.
The rumor is that the club itself is gorgeous. If this is true, with the
great location in West LA near the 405 on ramp, they should get some lookers
to work there. The rumor is that the management wants to run a high class
club. There is a rumor floating around that one of the owners of
Bare Elegance has a piece of
this club but this is not confirmed.
Stars Turns into Men's
December 17, 1997
In an apparent answer to 4 Play opening up nearby,
Stars Planet has changed
their name to The Men's Club. The name selected is not too surprising
since this club is owned by the owners of
The Gentlemen's Club.
It's just a good thing that the club is not in West Hollywood.
They are also now open during the day from noon all week except for Sunday
when they open at 5pm. The rumor is that they will finally put up a real
sign and jazz up the place a little. New DJs have been hired to take the
new day shifts and I assume a new day manager will also be hired. Speaking
of which, this is one of the few clubs in LA with a female manager.
Tropical Lei Adds New Rules
December 10, 1997
Tropical Lei, in
their ever increasing need to foist new rules on the dancers has added the
following changes as of the first of December or thereabouts. Dancers can
no longer refuse a drink when a waitress asks that favorite question for
all. Since dancers make no money on drinks after their tenth is bought, most
would rather have their customers spend the money on dances.
Also, customers are no longer allowed to sit at the four stools at the bar
in front of the dressing room entrance. I don't know if this is from too
many customers hanging around for a quick look or because the crowding is
so extreme. They do have the world's smallest change room. It is the same
size as the men's room, but has for twenty to thirty dancers sharing it.
Hustler Goes Nude
December 9, 1997
It is rumored that a nude strip club will open in downtown LA in January
of 1998 which will carry the
Hustler name. Apparently, the
owner of this strip club has obtained the rights from Flint Publications
to use the name. I don't know if the publication is also an investor in the
strip club but that would not be too far fetched.
Crazy Girls Wants a Face Lift
December 6, 1997
The rumor is that when the owner is finished with the
Seventh Veil remodeling, they
will remodel Crazy Girls
as well. The owner owns the land for both of the clubs so that sounds reasonable
to me. I hope they don't make the stage at Crazy Girls into those micro stages
at Star Strip.
Venus Faire Laps Too
December 4, 1997
Venus Faire is now offering
lap dances for $15.00, but the word is that they are not very good. The dancer
has to call the floater who has a key to the lap room and they watch you
while you get your lap. Moreover, since there is no DJ there, the dancer
in the main dance room has to put your music on and who knows how short it
will be cut. No specials or cheating going on there with the floater staring
at you.
Lacy Street Cabaret Goes Crazy
December 8, 1997
The current gossip about town is that
Lacy Street Cabaret
has nude lap dances for $30 and that they are as wild as it can be. I have
not verified this information and it may be just a clever way to get customers
to go there since they are supposedly going to close down anyway. In any
case, their laps were pretty high mileage already, so it can't be a complete
loss to go there.
Bob's To Open Sports Bar
December 1, 1997
Bob's Classy Lady will be
opening a Sports Bar called the Sports Page behind the nude club on
December 3, 1997. They will have a special grand opening party that day.
The club has been trying to open this sports bar for about 2 years because
of complications with permits with the ABC. The sports bar will NOT have
nude or topless dancers but it will be located right behind the nude club.
It is rumored that there will be a secret passage way from the sports bar
to the nude club that can be used by employees and perhaps VIP customers.
In related gossip, as of November 15, Bob's now features topless lap
dances and bed dances. I assume that this is to compete against the topless
laps that Industrial
Strip is doing. I love competition.
Westminster Beats Up Scamps, Again
November 21, 1997
Misdemeanor charges have been filed against 3 dancers, the owner, and the
G.M. of Scamps. Apparently,
a feature dancer posed semi nude for photos off stage with some of the customers.
It turns out one of the "customers" was a undercover vice cop for Westminster.
The second round of harassment the city is trying to inflict is with regards
to distance of the dancers (nude or semi-nude) from the customer. Westminster
is trying to enforce an ordinance that would require any nudity may occur
only on a stage 18 inches off the floor and six feet away from the customers.
This is already in effect in Anaheim so that may be coming real soon.
On my trip to Scamps tonight, I found that they have already enacted the
strange law of having to put tips into a tray that is located near the stage.
For more on this, please read the
updated review of Scamps.
Lacy Street To Close
November 18, 1997
There is a rumor that
Lacy Street Cabaret
is planning on closing within 2 months or so. The owners have mentioned this
to a couple of managers and some dancers have found out and are getting antsy.
No reason for the closing has been given, though business has been slow as
a whole and the occasional protesters haven't helped.
Club Flesh Update
November 16, 1997
The current rumor is that the club is no longer "unofficially" opened and
is closed until the grand opening which is supposed to be in December. The
way these types of schedules go, it may be 1998 before it opens.
Ready to Buy a Strip Club?
November 14, 1997
There is a rumor that
California Girls
in Orange County is up for sale. It is a bikini club with alcohol. The current
rumor is that the owner of
Angel's is interested in
buying this club.
In related crazy ass rumors, I heard that
Deja Vu might be interested
in buying out the entire
Spearmint Rhino chain
of clubs. Seeing what Deja Vu did to the clubs in San Francisco, this rumor
does not sound too far fetched.
Veil Closes for Renovations
November 12, 1997
The Seventh Veil will be closed
for approximately 3 weeks for renovations. It is rumored that they will convert
the 2 stages to the multiple micro stage format of the Star Strip. This might
be a smart idea because it is also rumored that LA will be changing their
laws so that nude dancers will have to be 6 feet away when dancing nude in
the future, but that clubs that are grandfathered will not have to comply.
Huntington Beach Tries to Revise Adult Business Laws
November 9, 1997
Field reporter OCR reports the following news:
This week the City of Huntington Beach will hold two public hearings to discuss
new ordinances and possible rezoning for adult orientated businesses. This
news comes right on the heels of an announcement from the owners of a defunct
French restaurant Les Misserles located on Beach Blvd. It appears that the
owners have applied for the necessary permits to reopen the restaurant as
a topless bar. Under city laws governing adult businesses, the location (Beach
just south of Talbert) would not violate any ordinances. The HB city council
wants to make sure that Surf City does not become Stripper City.
Also the popular retail store Condom Revolution on Beach Blvd could be affected
by any such new ruling.
Wonder if the city council has any idea that HB is home to most OC dancers?
New Club to Open in West Los Angeles
October 28, 1997
There is an ad in the LA Times looking
for dancers for a new club called 4 Play in West Los Angeles. The
original ad in the paper gave an address of 2308 Pontius Ave. However, upon
investigation, I found this club to be located at 2238 Cotner, between Olympic
and Pico. It is located right next to the 405 on ramp. Perhaps the other
address is for interviews only.
The rumor is that the owners of Bare
Elegance also owns this club. When I drove to this location on November
26, the sign was lit but the club is not yet open. The rumor is that it will
open in December as a nude club. It will compete directly with
Stars Planet which is
only a few blocks away.
Increase the Mileage
October 28, 1997
Field reporter JonDoe917 reports that the
Industrial Strip
is heating up big time. Those topless, full contact laps can get pretty hot
over there. He concludes that it is has to do with the absence of cameras
and the entrepreneurial owner. I have heard similar reports from other sources
including female ones. Specifically, Mail Nurse reports that there are a
handful of new hot Eastern European dancers there. Might be a good time to
check into this activity because high mileage often doesn't last forever.
In related gossip, field reporters have been experiencing higher mileage
at the Spearmint Rhino
in the City of Industry. Although it is common for new clubs to increase
their mileage, this club has increased their mileage quickly. Perhaps, this
is due to the intense competition in that area.
Body Shop Must Close by 2am
October 26, 1997
It is rumored that The Body
Shop was told by West Hollywood that they cannot stay open to 4am any
longer due to their local laws. Since West Hollywood is a separate city from
Los Angeles, they have their own laws regarding closing times.
Dancer Sues Bare for Whipping
October 25, 1997
One of the former dancers at the Bare
Elegance is suing for disability. The rumor is that a customer whipped
his penis out while she was doing a couch dance for him. She's claiming stress
from this traumatic experience to the point that she can no longer dance.
Apparently, she didn't make a scene or call management over so sounds like
a very weak case if it even goes to court at all. I'm waiting for a dancer
to sue a club for trauma suffered from having to take her clothes off.
Tropicana Goes Dry
October 24, 1997
It is rumored that the Hollywood
Tropicana is dry (without alcohol) as of 2 weeks ago because of ABC
violations. I do not know how long this will be the case, but the rumor is
that it is permanent. They are still bikini format but only serve non-alcoholic
beverages. This may be the last nail in the coffin for this club that has
been suffering from many problems in the last few years.
Club Flesh Spreads Their Legs
October 20, 1997
Although they have not had their grand opening, Club Flesh (owned by
Tropical Lei), is
open, operating and hiring dancers. If you are interested, call the number
for Tropical Lei. The club itself is not finished and they certainly need
more dancers.
Nicola's Goes Dry
October 18, 1997
Nicola's will be dry starting
today for 10 days as per their ABC liquor license suspension. They have been
fighting this suspension for almost 2 years but the normal delay tactics
have finally run out. They will be back to normal near the end of the month.
Strip Clubs Are Hiring
October 16, 1997
The Lacy Street
Cabaret has put an ad in the UCLA Daily Bruin as follows:
NEW GENTLEMENS CLUB open in LA. Needs dancers, servers, cashiers, floaters,
and DJ's. No experience necessary. Must be 18. Call (213) 227-6829 after
6 pm and ask for Billy.
I wonder if they put the same ad in the Daily Trojan? I guess they decided
to replace all their existing employees and clean house.
In related gossip, Legs has put this more interesting ad on the Internet
via ASSC:
WANTED: Women that are attractive both mentally and physically w/ style,
class and personality for our new Legs Gentleman's Club located in the South
Bay. To become entertainers/partners of the only true gentleman's club in
Los Angeles. We offer a comprehensive medical benefit package, 24 hr daycare,
shuttle service to and from the club. Optional financial advise offered by
Merrill Lynch/Paine Webber. Also, free access to our attorney. We will be
limiting the number of girls per shift and you keep all your money except
for tipping out the DJ and Managers $13 combined per day. NO FLOOR WORK!
NO CONTACT DANCING! Flexible schedules and respect offered to everyone. If
you'd like to discuss becoming one of our very exclusive business associates,
please call Steve or Jeff at Legs Gentleman's Club (310) 549-7930 or page
Steve at (760) 737-5868 or call Jeff at (810) 872-5969. Thanks and hope to
here from you soon.
Is this for real? This sounds better than anything a normal company provides.
I'd work there just to use their attorney for free. Maybe
Microsoft is getting into strip clubs.
To Fritz 2, Or Not Fritz 2
October 15, 1997
The fate of the largest topless bar in Orange County should be decided within
the next 10 days, when a hearing officer is expected to decide whether
Fritz, That's Too can remain
open. Apparently, Fritz 2 has been operating for four years without a conditional
use permit. The owners of the
Flamingo Theater are upset
because Fritz does not have a special permit, and they feel the city has
not picked on them, while targeting the Flamingo and other nude clubs in
Anaheim.
Bob's Wants to Get Classy Again
October 14, 1997
There is a rumor that Bob's is cleaning house to improve the quality at his
club. The word is that Bob's Classy
Lady is hiring new managers to attract new dancers. The quality of the
dancers have gone way down at this club and any change there can only help.
They are hoping to have things back to the old standards by 1998. The competition
in that area (as well as all of LA) has really gotten stiff and only the
strong will survive. I hope Bob's will be one of them.
Westminster Clamps Down on Scamps
October 12, 1997
The city of Westminster past a new ordinance last week stating that strip
clubs are not allowed to have lap dances or take receive tips. The city
threatened the club that if they opened their doors, everyone would be arrested.
The attorney representing
Scamps got an injunction
to allow the club to reopen. Upon going to court, Scamps received a temporary
restraining order against the city to allow it to reopen. They will return
to court at the end of October. Stay turned.
Mickey Bites Fritz Too
September 16, 1997
Disney owns the land to where
Fritz, That's Too is located
and the rumor is that they will not renew their lease. If this is the case,
the club may have to close it's doors. Poor Mickey seems to be p*ssy whipped
by Minnie and is not allowed to go to strip clubs.
Tropical Lei Spreads
September 12, 1997
Looking at Tropical
Lei's new website, it looks like they are going to open a new club called
Club Flesh in San Bernardino. If Tropical Lei opens a club with a name like
that, I will have to check that out on opening night.
No Spreading of Fantasy
September 1, 1997
The previous gossip regarding Dennis Morgan spreading was incorrect. There
is a new club in Honolulu called Fantasy Island but it is not owned by him.
Moreover, I'm told that he is moving to Florida and will not be active with
the club.
Flamingo Wants to Spread
August 30, 1997
Although Fantasy isn't spreading, the gossip is that the
Flamingo is trying to spread
to the Hunington and Westminster areas. That's 2 more clubs for the Flamingo.
I guess all the club owners are going with the old franchise rule that if
you can make "x" dollars with one club, open another one and double your
income.
More Elle Leaks
August 25, 1997
The current rumor about the new club Elle is that it will be BYOB. Nobody
in LA has tried to do this. If they try it, they will be harassed by vice
for sure. However, in Las Vegas, Deja Vu was able to fight back long enough
that the cops have finally given up. It depends on how much money they have
for attorneys. If they are successful, this will change the face of nude
clubs in LA forever. Don't buy any stock in topless clubs right now.
Bare Becomes more Jetty
August 21, 1997
BareSpy reports: "Bare Elegance
has started to have VIP chair dances for $30 like the
Jet Strip. About 2/3 of
the couches upstairs have been converted. Both clubs keep shifting around
managers. They were short of dancers too and sent some girls over from the
Jet."
In related gossip, the Jet Strip now has a "Spy Cam" that is in the center
of the club that can rotate and zoom in to great detail of what is happening
in every booth. To the point of seeing exactly what is pinched between
thumb and finger, if the angle is right. I'd suspect the Bare will soon have
at least one like it.
Thirsty's Drinks Again
August 20, 1997
Thirsty's Club (topless) in Van
Nuys has re-opened after their fire destroyed the club. They are located
at 7707 N. Sepulveda Blvd, (818) 989-9005. I have not been there but I've
been told that it is much nicer than it was before. Thank goodness for insurance
policies.
Z Bone Impersonator
August 19, 1997
It has come to my attention that somebody is impersonating me and placing
reviews on TUSCL. Let me state for the
record that I will NEVER place ANY reviews on
TUSCL. If you find one there, you can be certain that it is fake.
Unfortunately, TUSCL has changed their policy and now allows anybody to place
anything on it. This has caused some problems with dancers as well as some
clubs.
Busts Down OC Way
August 12, 1997
The rumor is that the
Flamingo Theater got busted
AGAIN a few days ago. Anaheim police keeps moving back and forth between
Flamingo and Sahara. Busting
nude clubs seems to be the new trend in LA/OC now. I guess Mickey just doesn't
like nudie bars near his Kingdom. In related news,
Star Strip Too was
recently busted in LA.
Bob's Cracks Down While Mr. J's Goes Down
August 7, 1997
Business seems to be pretty slow at
Bob's lately. Many dancers
are defecting and the rumor is that the club is cracking down on illegal
activities there. Dancers are being hassled for pot and alcohol possession,
and getting fired on the spot if any is found when purses and other belongings
are searched.
In related downer news, the quality of
Mr. J's has gone way down
as well. There seems to be a lot of movement by dancers these days because
the money just isn't what it used to be in LA. Many are moving out of LA
to Vegas, SF and Honolulu.
More Fantasy Spreads
August 5, 1997
The original owner of
Fantasy Island (Dennis
Morgan) will be opening a club in Honolulu soon. There is also another rumor
that he is trying to find a location in West Hollywood to open another club.
Industrial Goes Lacy
July 28, 1997
Industrial Strip
2 has changed their name to Lacy Street Cabaret. I don't know the full
scoop on this weird move but this club has had it's problems with the city
and picketers.
Tropicana Down for the Count?
July 27, 1997
There is a "For Sale" sign on the
Tropicana building. This
does not automatically mean that wrestling is down for the count but if business
was good, the owner of the Tropicana would buy the property. The owner also
owns the LA Express which makes more than enough money to make such a transaction
possible.
Mud wrestling hasn't been what it used to be for many years now. Perhaps,
it's time for something new.
Upscale Clubs to Open in West LA and Sherman Oaks
July 24, 1997
There is a rumor going around that somebody is trying to open a club on the
west side (near BH) for upscale customers. This club will have a private
grand opening party on August 21-23.
Here is the rumored scoop on this club:
-
Opens the first part of August (read November).
-
They are going for the 'Playboy Playmate look'.
-
May be bikini, may be topless, but won't be full nude. My guess is bikini.
-
Private dances are all no-contact and $30 with dancers keeping $20.
-
Stage fees $50.
-
Shifts are 5 hours.
-
Cover for the place will be $50 for non-VIP's to keep out riff-raff and Z.
-
VIP cards will be available at $1000/year.
-
Clientele is expected to include Charlie Sheen, Kevin Costner, and other
perv stars.
In related gossip, a new club called "Elle" is going to open in Sherman Oaks.
This club is going to be opened by one of the DJs that used to work at
The Gentlemen's Club.
Higher Mileage at Deja Vu, Ontario
July 19, 1997
Along with raising the lap prices to $20,
Deja Vu has changed
their system of keeping count of the laps. The dancer now enters the lap
room and the "cashier" keeps track of the songs without having to walk around
with a clipboard. This means less intrusions during the laps and higher mileage
is being reported by Z spies.
More Buy and Sell Summer Fever
July 11, 1997
Sunset Strip in Hollywood
and Legs in Wilmington has been purchased by Kenny Copeland and others. He
is known for providing dancers for new clubs so there seems to be some shuffling
at Sunset strip with new dancers replacing some old ones. According to some
gossip, the Pussycat
Club is down for the count because all the dancers were told to move
to Sunset Strip. I don't know if this is just temporary or not but I hope
they keep the Pussycat club going because it's an unusual club that won't
easily be replaced with Sunset Strip.
In related news, The
Gentlemen's Club has sold 11% of the club to an undisclosed couple. The
rumor is that the clubs owners owed money to their attorney from an old case
from many years ago and had to pay them indirectly by making this deal. Over
the past few months, the quality of this club has gone down causing a downgrade
of their rating in my reviews.
Mermaid Drowns
July 5, 1997
After struggling against Orange County,
Mermaid has finally been forced
to shut down after appealing to the Superior Court. In an earlier ruling,
the city forced the club to station 2 police officers inside the club at
all operating hours to prevent any illegal activities. The city made the
club pay the salaries of these police officers causing a major drain in cashflow
for the club. After their permits were pulled, the club stayed open illegally
for a month but has now given it up.
Jenna Jameson Becomes a Scamp
June 26, 1997
The owner of Scamps has recruited
adult video star Jenna Jameson to promote the club. The owner happens to
be her uncle and her father is also now involved with the club so I'm sure
it wasn't very hard to talk her into promoting the club. She will feature
at the club when she feels like it and I'm sure she'll get her adult video
friends to work there also. This might turn into the new
Bob's if she can pull this
off. So far, Holly Body has featured there
along with Jenna.
In related gossip, the dancers at
Bob's Classy Lady seem to
be complaining that the money has gone down and are defecting to other clubs.
This along with the fact that they do not have weekly features in July might
indicate some problems. The competition in that area really has gone up because
of Deja Vu and
Industrial. Bob's
might be feeling the pinch.
Vice Visits Star Strip
June 16, 1997
My good friends from LAPD vice was in
Star Strip and busted
an underage dancer there. The rumor is that the dancer has been there for
over a year, and it was pretty much known by the dancers that she was about
16 but nobody narced because they felt sorry for her. Vice was in getting
lap dances and checking ID's and she didn't have an ID and apparently vice
already knew that this one was underage because of a previous bust at another
club.
Fun Now Venus
June 1, 1997
The Fun House is now called
Venus. After being closed
down, the club was sold to the new owners who did some remodeling. The club
still has a full bar and is bikini with the same format.
7th Veil Puts on a New Face
May 20, 1997
As reported earlier, the Seventh
Veil in Hollywood has started expansion construction. The work seems
to be going along pretty slowly, but what used to be 2 VIP parking spaces
will be lost for more club space. The rumor is that new area will be for
private dances and the stages will be changed to look more like
Star Strip.
Management Do The Shuffle At Bare
May 14, 1997
As most of my readers already know,
Bare Elegance,
New Jet Strip and
The Valley Ball are all
owned by the same owners. The rumor going around right now is that there
is some shuffling of managers at the Bare and the manager of the Jet Strip
may become the overall manager of all 3 clubs. If this rumor is true, this
may be the best thing for this chain of clubs because my experience with
that manager is that he is willing to try new things and is more creative
than your usual strip club manager.
Buy and Sell Fever
April 23, 1997
Angel's in Long Beach has
been sold but the owner of Angel's is keeping the Corona club. The owners
of The Gentlemen's
Club has gone out and bought Gotham City, a topless club. Speaking of
the Gentlemen's Club, they have started lap dances there and the rumor is
the dancers are unhappy and getting ready to leave.
In related news, Mr. J's
in Santa Ana is for sale for $2M cash. Vital stats for those potential buyers
out there: 12,900 sq. ft., 25 year lease, 180 parking spaces on-site, 477
occupancy, $12,700/month rent, and $2,500/month insurance. Their books reflect
$120,000 monthly gross revenues, and $30,000 monthly stage fees.
Legs Tries for a Comeback
April 4, 1997
Club Legs in Wilmington spreads their legs again in an attempt to reopen
their doors once again. The city has been trying to close them down but the
real killer of this club might be ugly dancers. There are so many good clubs
in LA/OC now that a marginal club has a hard time competing for the good
lookers.
Fun House Is Less Fun
April 18, 1997
As per the ABC vice "threat", the
Fun House has been busted
and is closed until further notice. I don't know the gory details of the
bust but it must have been a pretty bad one for them to be closed instead
of being dry. Currently, I have not heard of a date when they will re-open.
If anybody has more information, please contact me via
e-mail.
Industrial Owner Hit with Suit
March 27, 1997
One of the owners of
Industrial Strip
is rumored to have been hit with a sexual harassment suit by a dancer that
worked there at the club. I think this is going to be a hard case for the
dancer to win. Moreover, this will certainly not help the bad reputation
the club has been getting with the dancers. In this case, bad publicity is
not good for business. If other dancers start to come out of the woodworks,
this might be trouble for him. But most dancers don't like this type of publicity
and my guess will be that he will be able to grease his way out of it or
settle for chump change. More likely, they will keep delaying the case until
the dancer runs out of money or patience or both.
Sam's Goes Dry
March 12, 1997
Sam's Hof Brau has been
hit by the ABC Vice and will probably have to go dry sometime in June 1997
for over serving customers. As reported earlier here, many topless clubs
have been hit by ABC vice because of their sweep. One of the vice officers
told me straight out that they are sweeping ALL of LA and OC.
Bed Dancing at Deja Vu, NH
February 3, 1997
D.A. Hacker reports that Deja
Vu (North Hollywood), now has
bed dancing and says: "One
word: HOT!"
His expert hint:
Take a bed immediately adjacent to the room entrance. The dancers can see
the reflection of the room monitor approaching in the chrome poles on the
other cubicles.
Sam's For Sale
January 30, 1997
Sam's Hof Brau is up on
the auction block at $1.5M. I predict the Russians that bought
Cheetah's and
Strippers, the owner of
Bare Elegance, and Deja Vu
might be interested. If the right owner with several clubs took over, they
could send dancers from other clubs and make this one HOT club.
Busts 'R' Us in LA and OC
January 18, 1997
Dancers at Mermaid in Newport Beach
has been busted by the city. The city has been trying to close this club
since it's opening. The club goes into court again in two weeks and it seems
that the city is trying a last ditch effort to get proof that nude dancing
is hazardous to customers in some way.
In related news, Fritz 2 in
OC is indeed going dry for 10 days as reported earlier. They are no longer
hiring new dancers while they are dry since they are expecting business to
be really slow.
In other BUST news, 3 dancers at
Strippers in North Hollywood
(was Playtime) were recently busted for lewd conduct. The club may not have
been cited in this case. However, the dancers were arrested and booked. If
any of these dancers have prior arrests for this offense, it might be big
trouble for them. I wonder if the club will pay for their attorneys.
There is definitely a ABC vice sweep going down. They told me that they would
be getting strict in the near future. I guess the time has come. Luckily
for nude clubs, the ABC has no jurisdiction on them.
Going Once, Going Twice...
January 15, 1997
Strippers (was Playtime
and sold) has been sold again to the owners of
Sunset Strip. The old
owner of the Sunset Strip bought Playtime, cleaned it up some, then turned
around and sold it to the Russians who bought Sunset Strip. Isn't this the
strip club version of making money by cleaning up houses and quickly re-selling
it?
In related gossip, I've heard rumors that the
Gentlemen's Club
and Angle's in Long Beach
are both up for sale. The owners of both clubs also own other clubs so I
assume the clubs that they are selling are not making them the money they
want to see.
I've noticed that since the owner hardly spends any time at the Gentlemen's
Club anymore, the quality of the dancers have gone way down. If this trend
keeps up, I will not be able to recommend this club with my thumbs up icon.
Fritz 2 Goes Dry
January 13, 1997
There's a rumor going around that
Fritz 2 in Anaheim has been
cited for serving minors and will have to do dry in the near future. From
past experience, I know that with the right law firm, a club can delay this
for months and in some cases, have the number of days reduced.
Mermaid X-mas Present
December 19, 1996
Reporter Laszlo writes:
Mermaid has finally got couches
(a total of two so far). Same $50 dance as in
Ecstasy. Same couches, different
clientele.
Sahara Show Stopper
November 18, 1996
Reporter Laszlo writes:
Went to Sahara, the usual
gorgeous girls, laps are $10, nude dancing on stage. Lot's of young faces.
Would be enjoyable, BUT while I was enjoying the dancer on the stage the
Police visited the club. Stopped the show, and arrested one of the girls
(I don't know the reason). This turned the mood down and the dances became
nothing enjoyable.
Z:
I hate it when that happens.
