please check my FAQ first and
read it carefully! Please, help conserve Internet bandwidth. If you specifically want your e-mail posted here (flames included) with your e-mail address, state so in your e-mail to me. Unless you specify otherwise, I will not post your name here for everyone to see. So ask those hard to ask questions. E-mail maybe edited as I see fit. Please note that Z Bone is not a doctor, lawyer, psychologist, CPA, or auto mechanic and therefore all comments made by him are his own views and are to be used "as is". What he says is only true if it's true for you. As always, YMMV. Can I go topless?Tue 12/20/2005 4:01 AMQ: Hi Z Bone, Listen, I have sort of personal questions to ask so I'm just gonna ask it straight forward, k? I am a dancer at a bikini bar in LA but I am now considering going topless or fully nude. However, there are a few things holding me back. Please give me any advice you can. First, I'm a natural C cup but one of my boobs is slightly larger than the other. Have you seen dancers like this? Will I get rejected as a topless/nude dancer because of it? Is it a turn-off for customers? Z: Of course, I can't really judge without seeing your boobs but generally speaking, it's not unusual for boobs to be unequal in size and probably won't even be noticed by the average customer. Frankly, customers aren't that picky. They just want to see titties. Q: Second, I know that dancers are supposed to wear those clear heels. However, I am 5'10" and I don't want to tower over my customers. Also, I don't wear open toed shoes because my toes are not pretty. Are there any other kinds of shoes I can wear? Z: I don't think towering over your customers is a problem. You don't need clear heels but heeled shoes make your legs look better. That's one of the reasons people wear heels. Some guys really like tall girls. For every guy that doesn't like tall girls, you'll gain another that does, so it will be a wash. Trying to look shorter by not wearing heels is probably not a good idea. Regarding open toed shoes, you could wear boots that would cover everything.
However, unless a customer has a foot fetish (and some do), most customers
do not pay any attention to your feet or your toes. In fact, I can speak
for myself and say that I never look at them at all. If you were missing
a toe, I would not even notice. Revenge is best served coldTue 8/2/2005 9:46 PMQ: hey i found this website [redacted], and you can get these revenge [spell] kits to put on people...... well do you think it would work if you wanted a manager fired from a club.... Z: Ahmmm. No. Rude regularsMon 7/18/2005 1:11 AMQ: You & I have about the same approach when it comes to approaching dancers when they're with a customer to just basically get their attention w/o coming between her and the customer and just wait until she makes herself available for you. Lately (for me I guess), I've had guys coming up to me and a dancer I'd be talking to and just start talking to her, as if to muscle in and take her away from me. I've been able to ignore it but I think it's rude. I feel as if the guy doesn't care if I'm standing right there or not, he's just going to go for what he wants. There is one dancer that this occurs frequently due to because how beautiful and popular she is. Every now and then when we talk, some guy (usually one of her regulars) will just walk up to her and start talking like I wasn't there. For example, I saw her tonight. On Thursdays, she usually sits with a particular regular for hours. Sometimes he would buy her drinks and sometimes he would get dances from her but mainly they just sit and talk. Tonight, she came to see me after going to the office. We sat and talked for 15 minutes on one side of the club while he sat on the other side. Before I knew it, he walked over and sat down next to us! Needless to say I was shocked but I didn't say anything since I knew him and I wasn't going to get any dances from her anyway. Well, he stayed with us at the table the entire time until I left, which was almost two hours. What made it even weirder was that there was another one of her regulars who parked himself not too far from us that stayed there ten minutes before I left. Whenever something like that happens, I just feel disrespected (like the guy doesn't see me as a man and doesn't owe me any respect). But, I don't want to seem like a possessive, jealous lover, which I'm not because none of those dancers mean a thing to me and not worth getting into a fight over. What would you suggest? Z: This is a very good question to pose. What you are describing is at the minimum, annoying and rude and could be worse in some situations. I've seen this outside of the clubs in bars, dance clubs and other pickup joints where some guys just like to bully people. The fact that you "know" him makes it a little different than a total stranger but it's still an awkward and uncomfortable situation nevertheless. From the dancer's point of view, it can make for a difficult situation since she probably doesn't want you to get pissed off but doesn't want to piss off the other guy either. That's probably why she didn't say or do anything about it hoping it would just go without incident. The worse case scenario for her would be if you guys got into an argument and both decided not to return to the club. To answer your question, personally, if I was having a private type conversation, I would ask him to give us a few minutes while we finish our conversation. If it was not private and we were just chatting, I would just let it go. It's not very important in the context of a strip club since she's not your girlfriend or anything and it's just business. Speaking of the business side of it, this would be similar to another customer coming up to the store employee while they are trying to help you and interrupting your conversation. I've seen that a lot and most of the time, the employee will just tell the second customer to please wait their turn. But in a strip club, the situation is a little more complicated since you weren't actually doing any dances, and the other guy didn't actually break things up and just sat there observing. Perhaps, in his mind, he was just trying to join in on the fun. It's hard to tell what the actual motive was without seeing the situation in person. Hope that gives you some info as to what I would do in the situation. Men's Fitness InterviewWed 6/15/2005 4:05 AMQ: I'm a freelancer for Men's Fitness, and I'm putting together a list of the Top 10 Strip Clubs in the U.S. for the magazine. The piece may include a sidebar about weird laws for clubs, club ettiquette or how to date a stripper. So, if you have some time, I'd like to interview you. Z: No problem. Go ahead. Q: What, in your opinion, seperates a great gentlemens club from the generics? (Brand XXX vs Brand X, if you will.) Z: By "generics", I assume you mean less than "great." I say that because if you mean "generics" as in "mom & pop" as opposed to name brand chains, I don't agree that they have to be less than "great." But if you mean great vs. not-so-great, then the answer is simple: inventory. By inventory, I'm talking about the strippers, or the more politically correct moniker, "dancers." In my interview with Spearmint Rhino CEO, John Gray, he answered a similar
question by stating that you could have a card board box for a club and
still make money if you had 20 great looking dancers all the time. I agree
100%. Without dancers, the best looking club, with the best staff of bouncers
and waitresses cannot be considered a great club. However, those other factors
help the club attract the dancers that you need. It's hard to get 20 good
looking dancers to work at a card board box. In non-strip club industries, the big chains offer lower prices because of their larger volume. However, big chain strip clubs usually do not offer lower prices because they don't need to. To answer your question, there are no negative McStripper effects that
I've seen. For the most part, the big chains have better manager training,
can afford better security/bouncers, and hire feature dancers. All of which
are hard to do if you are a mom & pop club. Customer Don'ts: Q: Where should a 10 work?Tue 6/14/2005 4:48 AMQ: [I'm looking for a club for my friend to work at on the West side.] I got a reference for Fantasy Island and Plan B from an ex of mine that works at one of them. Would you say that those are the best/top two bikini clubs for HOT girls making good money? My girl is basically a 10! Perfect body, gorgeous face, etc. If you look at my site you can see the quality of girls that I shoot with, so you can be sure when I say "Hot" and "10", that she is! :) Z: Yes, I see you're talking about real 10s. Fantasy Island and Plan B are the only good bikini clubs that are upscale in that area. Plan B is more upscale and Fantasy Island which is starting to look a little run down. Q: Another question... because she is so hot, would she be better off working at a club that was just "really good" with "really good-looking" girls in it so that she still gets more attention being "smoking hot"? ;) Or at a "great" club that have "great looking" girls in it, where she may only get equal attention? Z: I have some theories on this question but it's not a scientific fact. I've noticed that super smoking hot girls at a club that does not have hot girls do not make money. My theory is that the customers there are not used to seeing that type of 10 and are intimidated by them. Whereas, if a hot girl works with other hot girls, the customers are already used to hot girls and are not intimidated. That's just a theory. Frankly, I know dancers who can go anywhere and make money. It depends a lot on personality. Q: Personally I don't frequent strip clubs. I've been to a few in my late teens/early 20's, but for me, since I date Models, going to those clubs would just bring me down if I couldn't take them home, lol. So I really don't know what the typical thought process of patrons/customers of strip/exotic dance clubs are. Do they look for the hottest (like I would do), the best personality, the best body, etc? Z: Depends on the customer. I've noticed that younger customers go for looks, and older customers go more for personality. Again, that's a generalization and not 100% of the time. Of course, hot girls with the best personalities wins over everybody. Q: I read that your rating is your personal preference and that you are a butt man and prefer a hot face. My girl has a perfect EVERYTHING, and a great personality as well. So I'm trying to hook her up with the best place, where she will make the most money. Can you help a fellow hottie lover? :) Z: If she can only dance bikini, I recommend Plan B, especially if she has a great personality and can chit chat with the customers. I've seen many celebrities there and they do have money. However, unlike nude clubs, there's very little hit and run money there. In other words, she will have to spend time with the customers. If location was not a factor, there are other ones many miles away that might also be of interest. Let me know if you need more info. Good luck with your search. Is a lawsuit in order?Sat 6/4/2005 4:25 PMQ: owner.........management.........was at the club thursday night........... due to some system problem i wasn't able to acces funds that was owed a dancer......... after an hour of tiring i got needed funds....... during that time was threatened over and over........ the balance statement showed the money there........ all saw it......... that night blew $400........ blow this more or less every time there.... great time........ these guys REALLY stressed me... out to car [was asked witch one it was earlier] they keyed my car please advise.......... iam considering what to DO....... Z: First of all, I am not an attorney and I cannot give you legal advice. You will need to contact an attorney for that. I will give you some of my opinion regarding your situation. First, depending on the club you were attending, the situation would be different. If you were at a strip club where the dancers are independent contractors, then the club has no legal issue with you because you owe the dancer. The only way the dancer can legally collect from you is by suing you in small claims court. If you were at a strip club where the dancers are employees, then you owe the club and they can try to collect from you the same way. Regarding the scare tactics, that's exactly what it was. If you had declared that there was an error and you did not owe any money, then the lawsuit is the only way to collect from you in this situation. I don't think they can legally detain you if you cooperate and give them your contact information. However, if you try to flee without giving the information, that may constitute a form of fraud which might be illegal. The police cannot help since it's a civil matter and a judge would have to decide who owes what. Since you declared that you did owe the money, then they can try to collect from you or make arrangements to collect from you. For example, they might request that you leave your ID while you go get money. That's usually what a restaurant would do. If you did not come back, they would have to file a small claims court lawsuit against you to collect. Regarding your car being "keyed," I assume that you don't have any proof of who did it. If this is the case, there is nothing you can do about it. You could have called the police but normally, they would not come out for such minor offenses and it would be a waste of time. If you knew who did it, they would come out and take a report. If the club has cameras that record activity in the parking area, you could file a police report and they might get the club to show them the video. However, if there's anything incriminating on there, and they were the ones that did it, it's likely that they would erase or "lose" the tape. Just being suspicious is not enough evidence and it would be very difficult to win even a civil law suit if you decided to sue the club or the property owner of the parking area, let alone file any criminal charges of vandalism. All of what I am stating needs to be checked with an attorney but the same would be true with any business, not just strip clubs. Male strippers gone wild?Mon 5/2/2005 9:08 PQ: I know there are different strip clubs. I have been to some where the girls let you touch them anywhere but the crotch. I have been to some that are very strict and allow almost no contact. In my experience, it seems that no matter where you are at, if you are spending money, the girls are willing to do more. What I was wondering is what really happens at a male strip club. It seems that a male dancer would be more willing to touch and be touched and even more than a female dancer. I have seen pictures of a male strip club where the women were acting wild and even having sex in the rooms. I don't know if these were real or not. But is this something that could happen or does happen at some male strip clubs? Z: From what I've been told by male exotic dancers, female customers are more aggressive than most male customers. They also tell me that many female customers proposition them, but many also do mean things to them. One told me many years ago that they would burn him with cigarettes and basically treat him like a slab of meat. Tough job. As far as LA goes, it does get pretty wild but not as wild as some other cities or countries. That doesn't mean a lot of things don't happen after the show is over. One LA male stripper told me he gets laid after every single show. Protocol to get dancesSun 5/1/2005 3:30 AMQ: A lot of times, I see a dance that I would like to talk to or get dances from but she'll be talking to another dancer, possibly hanging out with her or occasionally dance alongside with her. I usually wait until they split up, and that works for me about 50% of the time. Sometimes, the girls don't split up or they might talk to other customers (again both separately or together). Do you have any tips on how to approach a dancer when she's with a fellow dancer? Z: If she's with another dancer, simply walk up and ask. If she's with another customer, ask the waitress to give her a message and tip the waitress. Strip club visit with my boyfriendMon 4/18/2005 5:25 PMQ: My boyfriend tried to get me to go to a strip club with him this past weekend. I really wanted to go but I was scared to at the same time. I was scared that it would do nothing but cause us to have an argument. I've never been with a girl but I believe that I would like it if I wasn't afraid that my boyfriend would have more interest in her than he would in me. I tried to get him to take me to the club where they have women on one side and men on the other but he made up a lame excuse so it made me think that he thought it was alright for him to be attracted to naked girls but its not ok for me to attracted to naked guys. Anyway what could I do to make the experience more pleasurable for both of us. Should we attend the men/women strip club or should I just go with him to the womens. How should I go about asking him since Ive already turned him down? Z: There are more than one issue at hand in your question. The first issue is regarding you and your boyfriend. If your boyfriend goes to strip clubs by himself, it should be fair for you to go to a male exotic strip club, even by yourself. From your description, it sounds like your boyfriend wants to experience going with you, not separately. For this, I suggest you go to a mild club where you can both enjoy the show from a distance. See my FAQ for specific suggestions. If there are issues in your relationship where you feel uncomfortable when your boyfriend looks at other women, you probably should not go. If you've had previous arguments about this, that might be a good indicator to stay away. On the other hand, you may want to go specifically to confront your fears and see what happens. I don't know enough about your boyfriend to give you specific advice but it sounds like you might have some insecurity problems which may just be something you need to work on. Just because your boyfriend looks at another female does not mean that he is going to cheat on you. But again, I cannot make a determination based on the small information you have given me. In regards to your question about bringing up this issue again, I suggest you be direct. Tell him you've been thinking about this issue and you are ready to talk about it again and if you can work out the details with him, you would like to try it. To be perfectly frank, the fact that you have to ask these questions leads me to suspect that either you suspect there's going to be a problem, or you will be the cause of the problem. If this is the case, and you do end up going to a strip club, it could be a dangerous step for your relationship. However, it might also help you grow as a person. That decision will have to be yours. The second issue is your curiosity regarding bisexuality. When you stated "I've never been with a girl," indicates that you have thought about it. If this is an area you'd like to explore, going to a strip club to look at women might be a good step to trying to find out more about your own sexuality. Separate from the issue of your boyfriend, if you end up not going with him, you may want to visit a strip club with friends just to see what your feelings are there. In conclusion, If you can get over some of your fears, going to a strip club and eventually, when you are comfortable, getting a lap dance, might open up some very exciting new feelings for you. I suggest you take things slowly and in steps to see what your feelings are. This last suggestion is for you, not your boyfriend or your relationship. AnonymityTue 3/22/2005 3:10 PMQ: How can you be a stripper and keep future employers from finding out? Is there anyplace you have to report it that they could find it? Z: That's a good question and I'm not a lawyer and you may have to talk to one to be 100% sure of the accuracy of the answer. If your future employer is a governmental agency (e.g. police, Federal, etc), they may simply ask if you worked in any places such as a strip club and if you do not answer truthfully, you could be committing a crime by lying. If your employer is not a governmental agency, I don't think they would care and probably would not be able to find out even if they did care. In terms of records of employment, as with any other business, each club
keeps records in different ways. Some clubs will keep their records forever,
while others will destroy the records of ex-employees after a certain period
of time. If you work at a club in a city that requires you to get a license
to dance (e.g. City of Commerce), they will be a record which will be permanent. Regarding if an employer might look into that, again, it would depend on the employer. If it's a retail store, I doubt they would do that. If you're getting a top secret clearance for government defense work, yes, they will look into everything and the F.B.I. will come and talk to your neighbors and friends about you. No, I'm not joking. Tom Cruise lucky?Sat 2/19/2005 5:31 PMQ: you said somewhere that there is little or no job security in stripping..... well.. i have to ask, is trying to get job security in this business like a struggling actor trying to be Tom Cruise? why are some girls lucky enough to have it? Z: Yes, the level of job security for a dancer is as bad as being an actor. Regarding your comparison with Tom Cruise, there are some differences. Tom Cruise owns his own production company and can produce his own movies and act in them if he wants to. So in order for a dancer to have that kind of security and control, the dancer would have to dance at their club that they own. However, if you are comparing the odds of an actor becoming the level of Mr. Cruise, versus the odds of a dancer having that much control, I think you are right that the odds are both about the same. Very low. I do know of one dancer who does have a minority share in her mother's club, and was dancing there along with her sister, so it is possible. At that time, she was also managing, hiring and recruiting for her own club, as well as dancing there part time. But of course, that's very unusual. Regarding some girls having more job security than others, it's like any other business. Often, it's who you know and not what you know. If a dancer is good friends with the owner, they will of course have better job security than another dancer who is new and who has never met the owner. But that's no different than any other industry or job. Home lapsSat 2/19/2005 2:40 PMQ: hey zbone, i came across yr veryyyy informative site, & wondering if u can answer a question for moi!!! i am giving lap dances at home, and currently posting lap dance ad on my site. is that legal? i mean being in residence and all? permit? appreciate it!!! Z: I've never been asked this before and it is a very interesting question. First off, please note that I am not an attorney and cannot give you legal advice. Regarding your question, to operate a business in Los Angeles, you do need a business license and pay the local tax. This is true of any business in Los Angeles. They just want their cut. However, in terms of having customers come to your residence, that might be covered by other laws. I know that there are many people who have home offices (e.g. accountants, consultants, etc) and they seem to be operating legally. There might be some limit as to how many people can visit a residence for business purposes. You will have to consult with an attorney regarding the legality of operating a business from your residence. There's also another twist to your business. Unlike an accountant, a business that performs lap dances may need the same permit as a strip club. If this is the case, it would take a while to get your permit because the police commission has to approve the location. Once again, I don't know the answer to this question. Of course, you could keep it quiet and only advertise by word of mouth and hope that you don't get in trouble. But that probably wouldn't get you enough business. I know escorts advertise on the Internet and they seem to do alright so I guess you could try it. The likelihood of getting busted can't be any higher than the escorts. Sorry I don't have a clear-cut answer for you but that's the best I can do for you. Quality CustomersTue 1/11/2005 6:09 AMQ: girls will sit and talk with customers who have money, so it depends on the quality of the customer, not every quality customer is a regular....... Z: This is very true. Some regulars come in every day but spend no money. Q: i havent worked in every club..... but i was referring to the newer ones.... or those clubs that cater to the big spenders (ie HT/TL)....... in other words more expensive..... where they have those customers who make the diffference........ SRI and SRLA have those.... but you ahve to weed out a lot of cheaper customers to find them...... have you ever heard this " i do better when its slow".... Z: I've heard that a lot. Generally, girls who are weak have this problem. What happens is this. When it's busy, there are more dancers working, which makes it harder for the weaker dancers to make money. The strong dancers (the ones that know how to hustle and get the money from the customers) can do it when it's slow or busy. The ones that are weak cannot do it when it's busy and full of dancers, only when there are few dancers. That's my take on this. I know dancers personally that make money at any club, as long there are customers. They make money on slow days, and on busy days. When this type of dancer makes no money, then I know there's absolutely no money to be made. Weeding out the cheap customers from the big spenders can be a problem sometimes. This is because sometimes rich customers do not spend any money. I've told girls to have the valet guy report to them what kind of car a customer is driving but that does not work all the time either. Sometimes a guy driving a bucket is there to spend tons of money. I know of one customer just like that. He has a very old Toyota that looks like it's going to break down, but he spends $500 per visit to a club. Why doesn't he buy a new car? I don't know. Generally speaking, if a customer tips well on stage, he will tip well for laps. However, even this doesn't always work. There are a few customers who only tip on stage and are not allowed (by their wives) to get lap dances. So I don't think there's any sure fire way to tell if a customer is going to spend money. And just because a customer spends money on one dancer doesn't mean he's going to spend money on others, or you. The bottom line is: Show me the money. If he actually hands it to you, then you know. Otherwise, it's just all talk and could be BS. Q: Q and Z's -- 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 |
