Q:
I haven't seen this covered in your site, but I was wondering about the perfume that strippers seem to wear. It's the same at every club I've been to. Kinda like this almost "fruity" scent. Am I just imagining this or do they all wear this same perfume? If so, is there a particular reason for it?
Z:
No, you are not going crazy. A lot of dancers wear a "body spray" that has a fruity scent to it. It's inexpensive and a great way to cover body odors. If you are bored and want to look deep into my website, check the following links for more info. I recommend using body sprays to new dancers in my FAQ at:
http://archive.zbone.me/zone/p-faq03.htm
under "#11 - Double check it."
Also, Madison (my Dancer of the Month for August 1996) also recommends body sprays in her little FAQ for customers and dancers at:
http://archive.zbone.me/dancer/p-mdfaq.htm
under "Tip #2: Cologne and Perfume"
I'm sure that's more than you wanted or needed to know... but you asked! :)
Q:
Do you have any tips on how to get a better reaction from a girl? Like...how to talk to her, or how to dress, or etc.? I'm sure there are ways to influence her for more mileage...besides a fat wallet, that is.
Z:
That bulge (the fat wallet) is probably the best way. Being a dick doesn't help but if you're half nice with money, you're OK. Keep in mind however, the dancers you attract with money are money hungry dancers. So don't get confused and think they really like you no matter what they say. The only other recommendation I have would be to make sure you don't have body odor or bad breath. Otherwise, unless you are trying to get a date, unlike the "real" world, your dress or looks matter very little, if at all.
Q:
My question..is [getting a dance in the VIP room at Spearmint Rhino] worth it....i never been asked that before at this club... i told her maybe next time..but i want more info...i would hate to spend the money and regret it.
Z:
The answer is: Depends. If you get the right girl, you will get just about anything. I stress "right girl". As far as I know, the dancer sets the rules in the VIP room so if she wants to, she can do anything. Having said that, keep in mind that only $200 goes to the dancer, the rest of that money goes to the house. For $500 paid directly to a dancer, you can get a private session with her for much longer than 1/2 hour and she will get a lot more out of it. In fact, you can get the same thing for $200. However, you would first have to get to know a dancer for her to trust you enough to do this. In order for that to happen, you might end up spending much more money anyway. If you are not on a tight budget, go ahead and find a girl you like and try it out. If it goes well, suggest to her that you cut out the middle man. I've had good luck with that technique but make sure you don't come off like a "stalker" type.
If you are on a tight budget, this is NOT the way to go. It will get more and more expensive.
Q:
A dancer friend of mine would like to dance in a club where the customers would like to see a 5'7" nineteen year-old with black hair, tattoos, natural B breasts, narrow hips, and long thin legs. Can you recommend any clubs? She lives in the San Gabriel area but will consider any suggestions.
Z:
Personally, I think there are ALWAYS some customers that like young dancers with a petite top. She will probably make more money at a nude club but if she's good looking, she could make money anywhere. Since she has tattoos, some clubs might not hire her but more and more clubs are OK with that now as long as they are very small ones. I don't have any specific recommendations but tell me the club she is considering and I will tell you anything you want to know about it.
Q:
Are there any lower scale clubs (safe white) in the LA area (Im on the westside) sure these ritzy clubs and all are nice but I just dont like the atmosphere myself (too uptight).. I like the more laid back relaxed places.
Z:
I know what you mean. I would say Wild Goose might fit your bill. It's topless, low to no pressure and it's near the airport. You can try Fantasy Island since you are on the Westside but the pressure is a little higher and it's more upscale. Otherwise, for a smaller place, try Cheetah's or Jumbo's in Hollywood. Jumbo's is a hole in the wall but they have a LOT of regulars that LOVE this place. Same with Cheetah's which has better looking girls there. Hollywood is not the safest place but it's OK if you have a "club" for your car.
Q:
I have some more questions. Taxes~ where How should I do it? Is there anyone you know of that could help me? Is it smart to set up a checkings account or is that not a goood idea, for They could keep track of how much money I make? What do you think?
Z:
First off, keep in mind that I am not an attorney or tax consultant. Having said that, here's my advice:If you are planning on dancing long term and buying a car or house with the money, I would strongly recommend you pay your taxes. This is because when you move large amounts of money for purchases, the seller has to report it to the IRS. I personally know of one dancer who bought a house who is now in really big trouble for not filing with the IRS.
Otherwise, if you are NOT going to make a major purchase, and [redacted] does not pay you as an employee, you can get away with not paying your taxes. However, if you open a checking account and deposit your money there, if you accumulate a lot of money, it may look suspicious to the IRS.
If you also have a regular job on the side, file your taxes based on that job and you can co-mingle your finds. Since there is no way for the club to keep track of the money you are making, they cannot file a 1099 form even though you are an independent contractor.
The short answer is: If you make a lot of money and don't hide it well, you will get caught. Otherwise, it's not worth the IRS's time to come after you for a few bucks. I would say that the cut-off point is about $50K per year and if you make $100K per year or more, they will come after you if you don't hide it well. Now you know why people "launder" their money.
Q:
I happen to be one of your female fans to this site, my fiance and I have used your guide to enjoy our special evenings out. So tell me, which clubs cater to women, I am so interested in finding a really nasty girl to dance right in my face. Give me a few suggestions as to where I may get lucky.
Z:
These days, most nude clubs are getting really nasty and the mileage you get will depend more on the dancer that you pick, than the club you pick. Having said that, your odds of getting a nasty dance at the following clubs are probably better than some others:Spearmint Rhino (City of Industry), Hawaii Theatre(days shift), Tropical Lei, Star Strip Too (VIP room), Deja Vu (North Hollywood, bed dance), and Bob's Classy Lady (bed dance).
Q:
Also is there any clubs that perhaps have women who tend to go home with the clients and play for them more friendly??
Z:
If you have $ to burn, you can find dancers almost at any club if you are willing to spend it. At nude clubs, it tends to get very expensive ($300-$500) because many of the "hot" dancers make $400-$1300 per night. However, at topless and bikini clubs, it might be easier to find a dancer that only made $150 that night and needs to make extra $.On this topic, keep in mind that although some dancers will pretend to like girls because of the money, some are not really bisexual and don't really get into it. Obviously, it's better and more fun if you can find one that enjoys what she's doing.
If you are talking about having dancers come play with you for fun, and not $, it would be much harder unless you know somebody there. The best way would be to get to know a dancer and have her set you up with somebody at the club. If you are really hot looking, the odds might change in your favor, however.
Q:
I would apprecite your advice. Also i ordered a t-shirt .
Z:
Thanks for your support! And don't forget to wear it to clubs once in a while.![]()
Q:
I recently started dancing about 6 months ago. I'm going to be 40 next week. I'm 5 feet tall, weight - 105 lbs. I do have a pretty solid body. People tell me that I look anywheres from 32 to 37 yrs. I work at a club now and it's really sleazy. I want to find another club. The one I'm interested in is in Connecticut. When I spoke with the owner over the phone, I asked what the age range of the girls were, he said 23 to 33 yrs. My questions are: When you go for your audition, do you have to tell them how old you are?
Z:
By law, employers are not allowed to ask how old you are.Q:
And when you audition do you have to do it in front of the audience or do you do it just for the staff?
Z:
This depends on the club and management. In almost all the clubs that I know of, you normally would audition in front of a real audience. In some cases, if you are stunning, they may hire you on the spot without an audition but this would be rare. I've been to some nude clubs where the manager will audition you privately without seeing you dance on stage. This is because stage dancing is not as important at nude clubs.Q:
Also, do men like all types of woman? I'm just afraid someone might make a comment to me that they think I'm to old.
Z:
There are always a-hole customers that may make negative comments. I've seen customers do that to all types of dancers for various reasons including age, weight, race, and other physical characteristics.Q:
Also, this bar that I want to go to is just topless (no contact or table dances). My tits are small do men prefer big ones in a topless place?
Z:
Generally, since that's what they are there to see, they want to see big ones. There are exceptions but dancers usually make more money when they get boob jobs, which indicate that most men prefer larger breasts.Q:
Also, in a topless bar can you pull your thong to one side and show them whats underneath?
Z:
No, not legally. If you get caught, you may be fired. Worse, if a vice cop saw you, you could be arrested.Q:
How old is to old to strip?
Z:
When you don't make enough money, you are too old. I've noticed that in a large city, there are usually some clubs that always are short on dancers and will hire dancers that other clubs may not. As long as you can get a dancing job and you can make money there, you're not too old.
Q:
After I left LA in 1995 I spent a number of years abroad and have recently returned to the USA. Some women I know abroad would like to come to the USA; however, obtaining green cards is close to impossible. Since I told them about American strip clubs they are interested in that opportunity, but worry about immigration. Vice cops are constantly investigating LA clubs, but what about the INS?
Z:
I have NEVER seen or heard of the INS coming into a strip club. And a LOT of illegal immigrants work at strip clubs (both male and female) because they work on tips and the club does not care about their status. Some clubs (not topless, nude only) don't care if you are under aged as long as you have a fairly similar looking picture on your ID. However, there has been some age related busts so more and more clubs are being careful about this matter. But as far as immigration status, I don't know of any club that checks for green cards. Passports would be sufficient to prove age. Canadian and Latin countries are some of the more popular places where illegal immigrants seem to come from and work at strip clubs.
Q:
Hey, great web site. I'm looking for any kind of female oil/jello/mud wrestling place in LA area, preferably Hollywood, Westside or Valley. It's for a buddy's bachelor party. Do you know of any place that has this kind of entertainment or something along those lines?
Z:
The Hollywood Tropicana has wrestling but they no longer have alcohol. Frankly, compared to the way it was in the 80's, it's just a very sad imitation of it's former self. I can't recommend the place. The other places that used to have wresting (Angel'sand Captain Creams) no longer offer that service so I think you are out of luck on this one.
Q:
We are operating a live internet video conferencing service, and are actively seeking attractive young women for our service. We have been posting to newsgroups, running classifieds, and all the usual stuff.
Z:
Did you call Jim South? He's got a ton of them in his book. If you don't know who he is, you're not for real. If you can't afford the extra $, I can understand that but it might actually be cheaper than what you are doing now and there would be a lot less weeding out.Q:
Do you know of any other ways to locate women interested in doing this kind of work - perhaps through strip clubs etc.??
Z:
Strippers generally do not want to be photographed. That's why they're strippers and not nude models. However, there are some that are interested. If you specifically want to go after that market, you could place an ad in a stripper magazine like Private Dancer Monthly. However, I would venture to guess that your hit rate might be even lower than classified ads in regular papers.Hook up with a porno company, a busy nude model photographer or agency, or strip club owners. If you offer a finder's fee, you'll start getting more hits.
Q:
I am new to the scene and was curious about something. I recently bought a private booth dance at a nude club (in LA, won't mention name), and the dancer only partially removed her top and bottom. Although the mileage was pretty high, is it standard practice not to be completely nude?
Z:
Frankly, it's hard to define "nude". By law, if she "flashes" her genital area, that is considered nude. By most people's definitions, that's just flashing. If the club advertises nude booth dances, they should take all their clothes off but often the dancer decides what to do. Even at topless clubs, often the dancer decides not to take her top off if there is not enough tipping.
To answer your question, is it standard practice? At many clubs, I notice that it is. If you are dissatisfied, you should tell the manager if you want to continue to go to that club. However, there are so many clubs now available in LA, you could probably find another one to your liking.
From a business point of view, if the dancer is an employee (being paid by the hour), she can be told how to dance. If she is an independent contractor, she cannot be told how to dance. Obviously, if her customers don't like the way she dances, she will not make any money and will probably have to quit. Therefore, simply economics will weed out some of them.
Q:
What happend to the Nastyman show? I tuned in last night and some new group was on. In spite of the show's limitations it gave the L.A. Stripclub scene some exposure on broadcast radio.
Z:
Nastyman's show was canceled and he has moved on to DJing in San Diego at a music station. Personally, I think he's better at doing that than trying to conform to the "Talk Radio" format. Nastyman's co-hostess Sheena Metal now has her own show with Samantha Philips Sunday mornings from 3am - 5am on KLSX 97.1. If you're up that late, call in and tell her I said hello.
Q:
I'm in Oregon and looking to open an under age club. My only real question is if you know any way that club owners are getting around the wage and hour laws concerning dancers. I know that there are few owners that are concerned with this but I don't want to have to deal with it later. As far as Oregon is concerned, dancers are not "private contractors" meaning they need to be paid minimum wage. I want to be totally legal and untouchable. Has anyone found the way?
Z:
This is a very hot topic right now in LA since there is currently a class action lawsuit involving just about all the nude clubs in LA. If the clubs lose, they will have to pay all back wages, taxes and penalties which would most likely result in bankrupt proceedings for most if not all the clubs involved. You may be aware that the same thing happened in San Francisco and San Diego and in each case, the clubs lost. There have been many cases across the country and I've talked to a lawyer who specialized in this and represents many strip clubs and he told me that he always tells his clients to NOT go "independent contractor" status. However, he says that most club owners do not listen until it is too late.I am not an attorney and cannot give you legal advise. I strongly recommend you talk to an attorney that is top notch in this area of law.
Q:
I'm relatively new to the strip club experience, so the FAQ's are helpful. As might be typical for a "newby", however, a few things make me a little nervous.I read your FAQ on busts and then felt fairly comfortable going to [redacted]. But my concern is that this place just isn't very private for the laps - even over in the darker area past the stage. Anyone could see what the dancers are doing if they really looked. My dancer, even on my first visit, was unzipping my pants, kissing me, pulling up my shirt and rubbing her breasts on me and encouraging me to kiss them. Could I get nailed by an undercover cop?
Z:
If you had asked me 2 years ago, I would have told you that although [redacted] has been busted several times, only dancers have every been busted and that customers have nothing to worry about. However, since Anaheim has been busting customers since last year, there has recently been busts of customers in Los Angeles for lewd conduct (along with the dancers). I don't know if this is because of the upcoming Democratic convention in LA or not but there sure seems to be a lot of busts lately. So in summary, to answer your question, if you are thinking of running for office, you might not want to go to clubs where the action is out in the open. However, the odds of you getting busted are very low and unless you are visiting the club several times a week, it is probably more likely that you will get in a car accident on your way to the club.
Q:
Should I just go somewhere a little more tame or can I go to my now favorite dancer without fear? I'm sure this is a naive newcomer question, but I'd appreciate your thoughts.
Z:
Actually, in light of the recent busts, this is not a naive question. In fact, all customers should be concerned about this new trend. As for the tameness, you can be busted for lewd conduct if the dancer on stage puts her tits in your face. This can happen at almost any club in LA/OC. Therefore, it is not true that a lower mileage club would not have busts. Basically, the vice has a list of clubs to hit and they will hit it in rotation. When one club gets busted, it is a sure indication that others are to follow. I highly recommend that you keep away from clubs during the Christmas/New Years period as vice seems to hit the clubs before the end of the year. I don't know why but they do. After January, you can return to your regular club and enjoy until before Summer when they will hit the clubs again. On second thought, maybe you should wait until after the election.
