Z:
Where are you originally from?
D:
I am from Mexico City.
Z:
What made you come to the United States?
D:
I wanted to learn English. And my daddy was very strict. He's still that
way. So for me to live alone, I have to leave and move. I went to fashion
design school but my daddy says you can't leave until you get married. No
partying. No nothing. So I say okay, I leave and come to the United States.
Z:
Do you remember the very first time you danced on stage? Were you scared?
D:
Shit it was too crazy. I never went to a strip club in my life. Only what
I saw on TV and in the movies. I went to
Century Lounge near the
airport. All the girls were naked. They were doing pole work and dancing.
I was red. I just watch.
The next time, I was working at Fred Siegel. My sister and I, we were broke.
She took me to Sunset
Strip in Hollywood. We just looked. She say "Let's go dance nude." We
went to Bare Elegance. But
before we get there, we drank a whole bottle of alcohol. The whole bottle.
I do it because I was drunk. I was dancing on stage. I was going around the
pole. "Oh shit. How I did it?" I don't know how but I was doing it. At 2
o'clock, we get ready to leave. The manager was like "What's up? We are open
to 3 AM. You have to stay."
Z:
And Dita, the dancer was born, I guess. I've heard some loca stories about
you. Do you want to share some good stories about dancing?
D:
Well one time, there was a birthday party at the club I was working at. I
was bringing the birthday cake on the stage for the girl and I trip and the
cake fell on the girl. Cake was everywhere! She got pissed at me.
Z:
I can see why she might get mad at you. [Laughs] Any other stories?
D:
Are you kidding? I have so many. One Saturday, it was packed. A lot of customers.
I was dancing on stage with another girl. I'm dancing real sexy. But when
the other girl was doing upside down tricks, her heel caught my wig. I wear
wig at the time. She didn't know what happened and continue. I start screaming
"AHHHHH!" She stop and give me back my wig. I put it back on my head. It
was not straight. But I continue dancing. The customers feel sorry for me
and I made $60. They say, "Poor girl".
Z:
I love that story. [Laughs] Maybe you should put it in your act all the time
so you can make more money from the sympathy tips.
D:
The other night, Vince Neal from
Motley
Crue came into the club. He ask me if I know him. I say no. I know who
he is. The DJ play "Girls, Girls, Girls", and he say "That's me singing that
song." I say, "Oh really? I think I heard that song. Maybe." He don't dance
with anybody but he dance with me and give me $100 to sit with him. I say
okay!
Z:
You got all the tricks down pat. Yeah, always pretend not to know celebrities.
They can't help but want attention from you and they'll pay for it. [Laughs]
Well, loca girl. Speaking of that, what type of music do you like to dance
to?
D:
I like dance music, tripie techno, also
Massive
Attack, and
P.J.
Harvey. Right now, I like I See You Baby by
Groove
Armada.
Z:
What else do you like to do in your spare time?
D:
I play with my dildo. [Laughs] Actually, I collect and trade antique furniture.
When I get tired of my furniture, I trade it for other ones. That's my passion...
60's.. art deco. I just got this bar.
Z:
I like your bar. Your place always looks different.
D:
The people on the Internet can see my new bar now.
Z:
Yes, speaking of which, let's tell everyone that you
have your own website with 5 live webcams. Your website is called
latinavista.com. Tell me how you
got into it and why.
D:
I like the MTV show Real World and Road Rules. I see Jennifer
Lopez video. She has a livecam website on the video. I like this idea. I
have a friend I know for long time, years. And he tell me what he's doing.
He make a website with webcam for his girlfriend. He becomes webdaddie. Actually,
my sister thought of the idea. But webdaddie pick me. I like to be part of
the new exciting things on the Internet. I like it so much. The only
time it bothers me is when I have a bad hangover and people want to talk
to me on the computer. [Laughs]
Z:
I'm sure you don't want to talk to anybody at that point. [Laughs] Tell me
more about what is on your website.
D:
You never know what's going to happen. Even I don't know. [Laughs] My friends
just come over. We have threesomes, people get naked and dance, people do
drugs, they get drunk. It's always a party. I had 15 people here. Sometimes,
it's only me or my sister. The way I describe my website is, it's "casual".
[Laughs]
Z:
Yeah, no dress code here. [Laughs]
D:
Some people love to be on camera. They get right up to it. Some people say,
"Can you turn your camera away?"
Z:
Well,
with 5 cameras, it's kind of hard not to be on camera. By the way, nice place
you got here.
D:
Thank you.
Z:
Do you think that being on the Internet is like dancing? And maybe that's
why you like it?
D:
No, different. In a strip club, I'm Dita. Here, I'm me. I'm sharing my
real life with the people on the Internet.
Z:
That's a good point. Do you want to talk about your private life?
D:
I could talk about my private life but I don't have one. It's all on the
Internet. [Laughs]
Z:
Yeah, you're right. Do you look at other websites?
D:
I like Adora. She's cool.
Z:
Do you like boys or girls?
D:
I like boys and girls, but girls only when I'm drunk. [Laughs]
Z:
I guess the loca side comes out when you are drunk. Speaking of which, would
you like another drink? [Laughs] I know you've traveled a lot. Where have
you been?
D:
Dallas, Seattle, San Francisco, Arizona, New York, South Beach in Florida.
I want to move there. South Beach is my kind of place. My kind of town. They
dance nude over there. I'm not sure I'm going to dance there.
Z:
Well, I'll miss you if you move away. Do you have any other last parting
shots?
D:
I just want everybody to know that I'm a normal person. Everybody hates dancers
but everybody wants us. We are on TV, every movie has a stripper scene. I
hate the kind of people who judge. They are not open minded. I'm going to
run for President. We are going to change the world.
Z:
Well, you've got my vote. This was fun for me. Thanks for letting me come
here and interview you.
D:
Thank you. And I'll see you on the Internet.
