Hey Everyone! I just got back from a WILD week in Las Vegas at the annual Gentlemen's Club Owner's Expo and Exotic Dancer Fan Fair that was held at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Resort, Aug. 28 thru Sept. 1.
First off, I'd like to give props to Don Waitt and his staff at Exotic Dancer publications for once again putting on an exciting and informative convention.
The EDs Awards Ceremony hosted by comedian Robert Schimmel:
*The Club of the Year went to Club Paradise in Las Vegas.
*The Club Chain of the Year went to Deja Vu.
*The Best Topless Club in the Southwest region went to Cheetah's of Las Vegas. Also nominated were Fritz That's It in Bellflower; Club Paradise in Las Vegas; and Club 215 in Colton. Much, much props goes to the guys and gals of Club 215 for representing at the awards ceremony by making the most noise when their name was announced. The other five nominees hardly got any response when they were announced.
•The Best Nude Club in the Southwest went to the Spearmint Rhino of L.A. Also nominated in this category was Deja Vu No. Hollywood, Bare Elegance and Lil Darlings in Las Vegas.
•The Entertainer of the Year went to Felecia. Others nominated and performed at the ceremony were: Exotica, Erica Eve, Lacy Logan, Shari Lauren and Wendy Leigh.
•Newcomer Feature of the Year was Tanya Taylor (Man, she is one HOT Babe!)
•Big Bust Feature of the Year went to Chelsea Charms
•Adult Movie Feature of the Year is Teri Weigel.
•Most Innovative Feature of the Year went to Xxxena.
Congratulations goes to all the winners and nominees. I didn't mention any of the other best club winners/nominees because they all were for other regions. If you want to know who won best nude or topless club from other regions, email me and I'll get them to you.
All in all it was a great show. Robert Schimmel was hilarious. All the nominees for Entertainer of the Year put on fabulous performances. And I couldn't argue with any of the choices that were made in the varioius categories. All the winners and nominees deserved to be recognized for their accomplishments.
Other Tidbits:
•Exotica, for the 2nd year in a row, blew the competition away at the annual Bikini Contest.
•2000 Entertainer of the Year Vanna Lace will be starring in a brand new show at the Harrah's Hotel and Casino called "Skintight." The show opens on Sept. 21, 2001. So, if you're ever in Vegas, make a point to check it out.
And finally on a personal note:
I got to hang out with one of my All-Time Favorite people in this industry, Summer Leigh. She retired last year from featuring and was at the convention to be a presenter at the awards show and to promote a multimedia company called NightBytes along with her website www.summerleigh.com. She hinted at a possible comeback by telling everyone that she is "semi-retired" and by mentioning to me that she will be house dancing at Pleasures in Pasadena from Sept. 10-22. I guess Summer is gonna use this to see if she really wants to make a return. So if you were ever a fan of the 2000 Entertainer of the Year nominee Summer Leigh, drop on by Pleasures and say Hi. Just remember that she won't be there on Saturdays or Sundays.
