After a long protracted fight with the city, this club, owned by the same
owner as Pelican Theater,
is finally opened. It's in a business area, next to a racing car business,
which might be a good combination for both businesses. The building is at
the end of the street and there are some parking next to the building,
inside the building (for valet parking) and also on the street in front of
the building.
The entrance is on the side next to the indoor parking area. There is a
cashier to your left who will take your $20 cover. Yes, you heard me
correctly. The owner wants to keep this place upscale and obviously want to
keep the cheap customers away. There is a long hallway to the main part of
the club. The large DJ booth and bar are to the left and the offices and
dressing rooms are behind them. There is a medium rectangular stage in the
middle of the room. The ceiling is raised only above the stage for the
lighting and the one tall pole to go higher than the rest of the club.
The ambiance of this club is upscale and elegant. Many years ago, this
would have clearly been the best looking club in LA but the standards are
much higher these days, but it still matches some of the other upscale
clubs. There are small tables with comfortable seating all around the club
as well as bench style seating all around the perimeter of the room. Behind
those seats are bench style lap seating on all sides except where the bar
is. Although there is very little privacy in this lap area, it's kept fairly
dark and not too different from the setup at the Rhinos.
The soft drinks are $6.50 each for customers and for the dancer's drinks.
The waitresses are on the ball and do come around asking if you want to "buy
the lady a drink," like at most lap clubs. The dancers must sell 5 drinks
for the club or pay at the end of the night.
The lap dances are only $15 per song (dancer keeps $10) and the songs are
probably around 3 to 3.5 minutes instead of the 2 minutes 20 seconds at some
other clubs. The laps are normal by today's nude standards. Nothing crazy
going on, partly because the laps are somewhat out in the open and I would
guess that also because that's the way they want the club standards to be.
For a new club, the quality of the dancers were decent. I'm guessing that as
the club matures, it will attract more lookers because of the upscale
ambiance.
If you like blond bombshells, try Nikki Lynn Star. If you like young
school girls in plaid skirts, try Sassy.
