Jacklyn's Review of Olympic Garden
This review was written by one of my anonymous dancer reviewers - Jacklyn

Night I Danced at Olympic Garden:
February 2002 (Friday night)

General Manager on For That Night:
Nick. Nick does most of the hiring. Tip: He prefers the girls to be direct rather then beating around the bush.

Nudity:
The club is Topless and they prefer 2 g-strings while up on stage and something to cover the rear, while on the floor.

What's Required to Work Here:
Like other Vegas clubs, you must have a sheriff's card. I think the card runs around $35. You have to go to the police department to get the card. Also, you have to go to a club to get a work slip BEFORE you go get the card. The management also frowns on piercing or tattoos. Just try to cover them up or take the piercing out. When trying to get hired on at OG, you may need to try several times. If they tell you "no," just come back another day. Believe it or not, they won't remember. This is what most of the dancers, including myself, did.

How does the schedule work? Just walk in whenever you want. This club is open 24 hours, 7 days a week. You may come in any time and you can work as long as you like without paying additional fees. You may just pay a higher fee if you come later in the day.

Drinks Served:
Full bar. Drinks run anywhere from 5 to 6 dollars. The price is the same regardless of if you buy mixed drinks, wines, water or beer. There are specials during the day where you can buy 3 for $10.

Cover Charge:
Free in the afternoon. After 6 or 7pm, the cover is $20.00. With each cover, you do receive 2 free drink tickets.

Atmosphere of Club:
Nice with 90% tourists. OG is an extremely large club with lots of room for dances. There's an upstairs allocated for the men dancers. It's somewhat dirty and there needs to be renovation. There are 5 stages for the female section. The stages do not have poles or an entranceway, and are set high. The stages are all the same, and is a small octagon shape. There may be enough room for 15 chairs surrounding each stage. There are 2 sections downstairs. The one section does not open until later in the evening or when it gets busier. There are TV's in both sections.

Dressing Rooms:
The quality is okay. It is a large area and has an upper and lower area. You have the basics; payphone, microwave, mirrors, lighting, lockers. Once again, there needs to be renovation.

Feature Dancers:
Happens on rare occasions.

Quality of House Girls:
Great. Everyone has their own personality, but the dancers tend to be there for each other; motivation, support, sharing customers. This club is no different then others where there are certain cliques.

Stage Dancing:
Stage dancing includes 3 song sets. Let the DJ know what sort of music you like, or bring your own music on CD. The first song is fully dressed. The 2nd and 3rd are topless. What's allowed; moving your g-string around, shaking your cahunnas in the customers face, tips in the g-string. It is highly recommended that when working the floor, you don't go to the customers at the stage.

Lap Dancing:
20.00 per song. Generally the songs are short. There are no private booths. There is however a VIP room. I do not know the costs of the VIP.

DJ on Duty:
Jessie. What a sweetheart and fantastic DJ. I tipped Jessie $20.00 at the end of the night.

Club Features or Specials:
Seldom if at all, except dollar dances during Football season. There was a bachelor dance on stage.

What I Paid To Work There:
I paid a total of $135.
$45.00 to work the club (required house fee).
$35.00 additional to club not to dance on stage (required not to dance on stage).
$20.00 to the DJ ($5.00 required).
$15.00 to the House Mom for her fantastic homemade food ($5.00 required).
$20.00 to the Floorman. He introduced me to a good customer. However Management frowns on tipping the floor men. Have the tip in your palm and shake the floor mans hand while giving him the tip. (Optional)

Show Me The Money:
I brought home approximately $400.00 after tipouts. If I worked 6 hours, that would be $67 per hour. $135 tipout is about 25% of gross.

My opinion:
I liked working at OG. The money was decent. The girls were great and the clientele was great too. I was not too pleased when I noticed that the management did not give the girls a chance to explain themselves in the event problems may arise. This is important.

Jacklyn's Footnote:
I was very happy with this dancer's report. She was very thorough for me, and very personable. She seems to truly like to dance. I think it’s always good to get different opinions, so, I will do this as often as I can. I worked at Olympic Garden sometime around 1994 during the summer. At the time, from what I can recall, I did enjoy working there. The only thing that sticks out in my mind about it was how casual the management seemed. They seemed very nice, but they seemed like thay had a huge turnover of girls. So, it’s all a matter of who shows up at their doors at the time. There are so many clubs in Vegas, you can always find somewhere to work.
