Night I Danced at Can Can
Room (Las Vegas, NV):
Tuesday and Wednesday nights, May 6th and 7th, 2003. I was there to
feature. I was supposed to stay 3 weeks. I lasted two nights.
Nudity:
Full nude.
Drinks Served:
Non-alcoholic beer. Soda, water, tea, no alcohol. All drinks are $10.
Cover Charge:
$30. They break it down like this: $20 to get in the club and a one drink
minimum, which is $10.
Atmosphere of Club:
Dirty and dark. No decor.
Dressing Rooms:
Small dressing room for the house dancers. It's OK. Nice thing is, there
is a bathroom in the dressing room. And the dressing room goes directly to
the stage. The dressing room is actually backstage. Feature dressing rooms
are decent. Large, with a couch and a changing chair in front of a large
mirror.
Feature Dancers:
Yes. Nightly.
Quality of House Girls:
Semi-OK. A couple hot ones, but, for Las Vegas, I guess the quality is
kind of low. There are about 15 girls on duty each night. A very low
number for Vegas. Some clubs have up to 50 girls a night.
Stage Dancing:
Very few customers. 9 were the most I counted around the stage at once.
Lap Dancing:
Oh, geez! OK. The MINUTE a customer comes into the club, they have 'house
moms' who try to sell dances. The dancer isn't really supposed to sell
them. The lap dance is done in a room with a bed. For me, I was supposed
to charge $200 for a 1/2 hour 'bed dance'. I was to keep a hundred, and
the club would keep a hundred. The club would mis-sell these, and the
customers generally thought they would get laid in the room. That does not
happen. From what I could tell (and I'm not quite sure on this because one
of their rules was that I wasn't allowed to speak to the house dancers),
the regular house dancers would sell the room for $150. The club kept all
of that, so that would be a 'no contact' 1/2 hour 'bed dance'. It was then
up to the dancer to get her tip after that. The club did offer $30 lap
dances, but those were sold WAY after they tried to sell the initial 'bed
dance'. By that time, the customer is far too irritated to get any dances.
Club Features or Specials:
Just the 'bed dance'.
What I Paid To Work There:
I didn't pay to work there. I was supposed to get $100 per show, which is
VERY low pay for a feature. 2 shows a night. When I got there, they told
me there weren't enough customers to do two shows, so the first night, I
only did one show. They claimed they would make it up the following night,
which never happened.
Show Me The Money:
I only made $100, which was my show pay, and I made $3 in tips. So the
total was $103, working 10pm until 3am (5 hours). That comes out to about
$21 per hour. If I wasn't featuring, I would have made $3.
My opinion:
This club ROYALLY sucks! It's a rip-off for the girls, and a rip-off for
the customers. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Another thing to be
aware of in Las Vegas is that the clubs pay the taxi drivers to get people
into their clubs. The Can Can Room was paying the taxi's $25. This is
fairly high. Many of the clubs pay around $10 to the taxi drivers. They
were supposed to put me up in a hotel, but the hotel they put me up at
didn't even have any running hot water there. Very disgusting. I ended up
going onto the strip and getting my own room.
