[j777]-->Residence Upset over New Strip Club (Skin) on South Robertson.
http://www.myfoxla.com/myfox/pages/News/...
The location of a former meat market has re-opened as a strip club and neighbors don't like it one bit. They're up in arms over the club which is located on South Robertson, near the 10 Freeway. Jeff Michael was at the club's opening night.
[saxbeat]--> j777, I just wanted to thank you for tirelessly seeking out strip club-related news stories all year long and posting them here. I really do appreciate it. You do a service to this site, and if ZBone ever compiles a list of "deputies," I think you should be on it!
Re: The story. This is eventually going to bite the club owners. There are 100+ strip clubs in the area. Many of them barely have any customers. I guess somehow, they still make money, but I don't know how. So, why open yet another new club, so near to the almost-always-empty Silver Reign, in a community that is politically connected and socially active? It's not just greed, but stupid, short-sighted greed. The only justification I can imagine is that the owners hope that Skin will draw enforcement attention away from Silver Reign, or that if the D.A.'s charges against Silver Reign hold, and it has to close, they will have a backup club in the new location.
I don't get it. It seems we have enough clubs in L.A. already. Quality is being diluted. Why not open a club in an area that doesn't have any clubs already?
Oh well.
sax "befuddled fuddy duddy" beat

[qbg]--> Ditto your comments, sax, as to j777.
As to the story, well, you won't find me complaining about a new club's opening. As Z mentioned, this is the first new nudie on the west side in years (and only the 4th overall). Similar reservations might have been expressed about Silver Reign when it opened, but, for all my own complaints about that club, I'm still glad it's there.
Dilution of quality? It's hard to say that without snickering a bit, but really, if there were only half as many clubs, you'd be facing twice as much competition for the attention of your favorite at, what was it, 7557? Or, more likely, that club woudn't even be open.
As for stupid, short-sighted greed, hey, this is Lapland. This is L.A. This is America! |
