The girls seem to be a bit pushy but not all of them. Best thing to do is to take your time to scope out the best option and go from there. Management is cool and will give you discounts on their VIP's if it's slow which is the usual.Also BYOB but don't bring a huge bottle to make it obvious since there's no alcohol but they seem to be pretty cool with it. Check out Sunset and Showtime for great stage. Paige, Eden, and Jackie are great with lps so check them out as well. AVOID THE RUSSIAN GIRLS. They are the most pushy out of ALL the girls and will rob you blind. They are usually standing by the front door to snag you. I learned that first hand a while ago. In an earlier review, I was trying to think of what the worst club I've been to in LA was. Then I went to Star Strip. No question, hands down, this is the winner. Do NOT go to this place. Star Strip is located at La Cienega and Beverly, which most people will recognize as a pretty good side of town. Cedar's Sinai is not far from it, as is the Beverly Center, as is Beverly Hills. So one would think that the strip club for that neighborhood would be VIP all the way. Right? When you go into Star Strip, the front has a "peepshow" vibe. Not the worst thing in the world, but if it gives you pause, it should. Still, when I went on Saturday night, I tried not to judge the book by its cover, and paid the admission. Big mistake. Star strip has little booths built into the walls, with a stage with a pole in the center. Very unusual setup, and very different from the "gentlemen's clubs" that I'm used to, which look more like a nightclub or lounge. There are video screens all around showing music videos. You sit in these little booths that are carved into the walls and have curtains so if you wanted to, nobody could see you (probably a good thing if you're in here). The waitress comes by and tells you that the drink prices are, "whatever you want to tip." (I overtipped.) She brings you your drink in a plastic cup. Hardly high class. But the worst part about Star Strip are the girls. They look like crack whores. Many of them are foreign, which is not bad in and of itself, but you can tell that these girls are doing anything they can to escape the poverty of Eastern Europe. Most of them are emaciated, and try to engage you in conversation, which, if you're not interested, will result in them hurling insults at you. Indeed, that's the main thing I noticed about these girls - they're ugly, foul-mouthed, flat chested, and mean. And this is on a Saturday night! Traditionally, this is supposed to be one of a club's prime times, along with Friday night. After about twenty minutes of this, getting insulted by two different ugly girls, I realized it wasn't going to get any better. As I made my hasty exit, the girls yelled after me that I was religious or gay. No ladies, I'm neither. I just have standards. Obviously, you don't if you work here. It's like somebody said, "let's get together all of the girls who make nothing at a good strip club, and get them to work cheap. That way, they'd have to book - there's nothing else." No thanks for me. I will never go to Star Strip again and recommend it to no one. You should do the same. I keep hoping for a comeback, and I thought the recent renovation might do it. Well, the results are mixed. First the renovation. They left the main stage alone, but took out the small stages that were the trademark of Star Strip, and replaced them with a long, generic stage that is now the main stage, and a smaller "stage" (for shower shows, I think, but they don't seem to be using it even at the prime time on a weekend night). They also redid the wall seating and made it into nice booths. I did not like the new stage because it is too long, too deep and narrow, so it's not efficient for watching the dancer. The stage lighting is also worse than it was before. All in all, the renovation is a net minus. The main improvement is that the girls are better looking and less edgy. Mind you, some of them are still edgy, but the atmosphere is not as heavy as it was a year ago. There were about 15 dancers, two of them beautiful, and 5 more nice looking. There were only few customers until around 11:30 PM when it started to become somewhat lively. The stage show was good. The girls actually got naked (as opposed to the fiasco at 4Play, see that section for more), they did close-and-personal acts for the few customers at the tip rail, and they did not look bored like they did last year. The songs are still cut short. They ran only one 2-for-1 while I was there, but it was a real 2-for-1. The main lap area has a bunch of small love seats without any barriers, so privacy is an issue. They now have nude laps, and the mileage is OK given the lack of privacy. The lone lap booth close to the entrance is still there, but I haven't seen it used all night. BTW, you now have to pay the cashier before the dance, which is a mighty bad idea. I almost refused and canceled the dance, but I didn't want the agitation so I just refused to lap again after that. Admission was free until 11:00 PM with the LA Weekly coupon, and the waitress charged $10 for the two drinks minimum. Parking was $3.50. There was no pressure at all to buy drinks after the first two drinks, and there are no ladies drinks gimmicks. The pressure to buy laps is more than I would want, but still tolerable. The staff was OK friendly. I left Star Strip with a slightly positive impression for the first time in years. I can't quite put my finger on it since many of the components are not so good. Perhaps the fact that the good-looking girls were also quite friendly is what tipped the balance. Paradise showgirls would be the perfect example as some dancers offer 3 for 1 specials at anytime. Also recently was at Taboo the other week and got a buy 2 get 1 free by one of the dancers when the dj didnt announce it. The way to go about doing this so you don't get screwed is go with the dancer to the floater guy counting the songs with the clipboard and have her tell him upfront or you can do it. That's what I do at Paradise as the dancers dont have a problem with it. Fuck now that I remember I had a 5 for 1 at Players LOL where the dj didnt announce it but wouldnt recommending going to that dump. Never been to this club though so don't know much about this place or if the girls are ROB's or not. Just do what I'm telling you and you won't get rip off on a 2 for 1 unless of course the dancer ask for extra to give you extra mileage on the 2 for 1. I live in Studio City, so the drive to La Cienega Blvd is about 10 to 15 minutes. I place a phone order around lunch time on either Sat or Sun, take out. Of course, I always take notice of Star Strip across the street. Nude. Very tempting. Would be cool if I could make this a part of my weekly Sat/Sun afternoon ritual (post office, dry cleaning, lunch at real food daily, then a few lap dances across the street!) But $30 for topless? What is the mileage here in general? Or as I'd expect does it depend on the girl? I am a regular at Deja Vu, City of Industry and North Hollywood. Once per week has been my average over the summer, sometimes more often. I like those clubs, at least there are $10 dances that allow you to more affordably try out dances from a number of dancers. When I find a girl I like, I usually do about four dances. $30 per dance is steep though. So here are my questions: How long is a typical dance? I know there 2 for 1 specials, but how frequent are they offered (at Deja Vu it's typically at the top of each hour) or is that at the discretion of the dancer? (I'd think this is better). I'll visit if I can get two songs for $30. I rarely spend more than $140 per night at a strip club. I'm much happier if I can keep it under $100. Thanks for any info! In particular, there was a time when a bus would pull up outside and unload 30-50 Japanese tourists. It was the wierdest strip club I had ever been to. A complete tourist environment with, in my limited experience, zero mileage. When there were no buses, it was so empty that I was convinced that it was open only to launder money from some illegal non-club activity. But then I have a conspiratorial mindset about stirp clubs. I could not find any recent reviews, so I decided to take one for the team and check it out on a weekend night. For the uninitiated, Star Strip is located two blocks from the Beverly center and few blocks from Melrose and Sunset night spots and restaurants. There were about 15 dancers, two really beautiful but the majority about average. Some have been here for as far back as I can recall. The club has several stages that used to be filled with customers, including a constant flow of oriental tourist groups. During my visit, the most customers at any point were less than ten (in spite of the LA Weekly coupons for free entry until 11:00 PM). The club has topless laps for $30. Only one customer did repeat laps, while two others did one lap each. At the tip rail, there were between one and five customers at different times. The strongest impression I kept getting during my entire visit was the bad vibes from the dancers. They seemed bored and edgy. They asked for laps in an unappealing way. Some would not take no for an answer. Two girls separately offered me 2-for-1 as a sales pitch. The club doesn't have 2-for-1 specials, so I was a bit suspicious as I was ripped off before in this club. The girl said if I got a lap from her we would do A, B, and C. I went back with her, and she wouldn't do anything. When I told her you said we would do A, B, and C, she just stared at me while continuing her air dance. When she was done, she asked "would you like another dance?" It was surreal, actually bordering on amusing. I still would have done laps with two of the girls if it weren't for the erratic song length. The DJ cut many songs to about 2 minutes, and that simply vetoed my lap plans. Most of the laps were done at the booth closest to the entrance, and it was easy to see the action from outside. The guy lies down on a long couch, and the girl is all over him. The mileage seems decent. Only the main stage was open, and it is the worst stage in the club. The most customers at the tip rail at any time would have fit into any of the smaller, more intimate stages with room to spare. The dancers at Star Strip have the annoying habit of pulling down the stage tips during the song. It would have been less annoying if they spent more time in front of you than the 2 seconds it took them to pull down the tips. Only a third of the dancers did nice sets. Throughout my visit, there was a subdued atmosphere. The smiles were rare and seemed to be done with undue effort. The body language of the dancers was not indicative of happy campers. Although my expectations were low to begin with, I was hoping that I would be pleasantly surprised. Well, there were two pleasant surprises. I saw the prettiest dancer that I have seen in all 7 clubs that I visited this summer, and I found a parking spot on La Cienega. After driving around with two of my friends we went to City Walk of all places and ate at the Hard Rock Cafe. While my friend was talking to me I was distracted by the waitresses going up the stairs... shorts skirts + stairs = trip to the strip club. So we pull in parking lot, pay our cover and the waitress sits us down in front of the stage. They have the, what I call, "Bathtub-Type" stage which for some reason I really like. It was quite bright in there, perhaps the brightest club I've ever been in. About three and half seconds after we sat down, the waitress took our drink order and was really determined to change our $20 bills in to singles, in fact she must've asked me alone, about nine times within a half hour. After bringing our drinks and tipping her for it, she wanted another tip for changing our bills. Didn't mind that much, but it didn't help the vibe. After watching some of the girls dance (all of which were very hot) I seen one girl walk out from the back of the club and instantly I she was gonna be my firs dance. She's about 5'7", white, skinny, whiteish-platinum-purple hair. Now I have to agree with most of the reviews, some dancers from what I recall due try to hussle the lap dance when they are on stage, and some won't even get naked if a couple of guys on stage aren't tipping. If your at a stage with some cheap bastards hear move to another stage cause the girl will get pissed and she won't shed the clothes. Now if you're lucky enough to be at a stage with some guys who understand then it makes it a lot more fun. As I made my way through the crowded streets of LA, I noticed that Tropicana, Sunset Strip, and my favorite massage parlor, Felecia's Massage were closed. Devasted, I asked myself, "How can this be?" I then prayed to strip club Gods that Star Strip would still be open. It was. I was very happy and almost hugged the parking attendant on my way in. It was rather slow for Saturday Evening. Four customers sat at one stage and a few sat at the tables along the wall. The waitress sat me down with the others four customers and came back a minute later with the two drinks I ordered(you pay $10 for two drinks here). For the next four hours, I was treated to some of the most close-up stage shows around. The quality of the girls here are typical like most clubs. Some are pretty. Others are not so pretty. But there is something for everyone here. Although I was thrilled with the stage show, I can not say the same about the attitude of some of the dancers here. The rip-ther-customer-of policy is strong here. For example, one dancer, Sabrina, would stormed off the stage within ten seconds of the first song if she did not see any tip on the rail. The hustle for lap dance is also strong here. Some dancers would ask you for a lap dance while dancing her first song on stage. The lap dance here is expensive, thirty dollars for one short song. My problem is that it takes about seven lap dances for me to be happy. At this rate, I would have be Bill Gates to afford them here. I am in total agreement with Art_3 on this. Art_3, the morons who attacked you are probably employees of this club. Cover charge was $20. 10 for entrance and 10 for two drink minimum. Lap dances are good but only one song. Best thing to do here in to see the girls on stage.
